Book of the Week
Agents of Influence covers one of the largest ever government sponsored foreign influence campaigns— the multi-year effort led by the Allies to change American public opinion in support of entering the second World War. On behalf of the British, M16 Agent William Stephenson went head to head against Charles Lindbergh— who sought to rally Americans "to protect our inheritance of European Blood" under the slogan America First.
It's a timely and entertaining read.
Song of the Week
In the Spring of 2019, Nathaniel Rateliff entered the home studio of his old friend and producer Richard Swift, and began to lay down tracks for his latest album.
But for this recording, Rateliff was alone. Swift had drank himself to death a few months earlier, Rateliff was recently divorced, and he entered the studio solo, without his backing band, The Night Sweats.
With tragedy as a backdrop, Rateliff transcends by simply surviving, murmuring the refrain through the silence "...but it's still alright."
