Post of the Month
New post about leadership and startups is up on my blog.
Great leaders don't let pressure control them like an invisible hand. Instead, they harness pressure and choose when to apply it and when to relieve it.
Tool of the Month
Same Energy is a fascinating tool for finding new, inspiring visual art.
From the creators:
Same Energy is a visual search engine. You can use it to find beautiful art, photography, decoration ideas, or anything else.
We believe that image search should be visual, using only a minimum of words. And we believe it should integrate a rich visual understanding, capturing the artistic style and overall mood of an image, not just the objects in it.
We hope Same Energy will help you discover new styles, and perhaps use them as inspiration.
You can search by image or text. Click the photos below to see more images with the "same energy" or start your own visual search.
Video of the Month
“Tuscany” is a hand-drawn animation painted in Photoshop, five seconds at a time. It was completed over the course of 15 months, interrupted by the pandemic in 2020. It’s inspired by a night spent in a cement annex on an isolated Tuscan farm. It explores fear, paralysis, the long journey home, rebirth—and ultimately, the cyclical nature of passage.
Story and animation by Coleen Baik.
Song of the Month
If you live in Austin, you have been hearing "Stay" by local musician Israel Nash non-stop on KUTX. If not, you're welcome.
Artist of the month
Fred Taylor (1875-1963) created posters for the British railway company. His work rhymes with some of the "digital art" we see today, as well as Pop art from the 1950's— but it was born 100 years ago. h/t to Federico Italiano
