Book of the Week
I had heard great things about Open, Andre Agassi's autobiography, but shied away from picking it up. Last week, we were walking through the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona, and I spotted an English copy selling for $2 Euro. I figured that was a sign and gave it a shot.
It is an inspiring story and his energetic, honest approach grabbed me instantly. I loved reading this book.
Photo of the Week
We were walking the ramparts of the old medieval quarter in Girona, Spain when a storm came in from over the mountains. I snapped this shot and hours later the city was covered in hail.
Song of the Week
Superchunk just released a new split single featuring a fist pumping original "I Got Cut" and a cover of the Tom Robinson Band's punk classic "Up Against the Wall." The lyrics are blatantly political and all proceeds from sales go directly to Planned Parenthood South Atlantic.
Make Punk Rock Great Again.
You can buy the single via bandcamp here
Destination of the Week
We had a great four days in Llafranc along the coast of Catalunya. This area of the Costa Brava is filled with sandy coves, rocky paths along the sea, small medieval villages, distinctive food, and friendly people.
Article of the Week
Reading a great map is like reading a great book. You begin to visualize a world and see yourself in it. But more than a book, a map is an adventure first experienced in thought, that can then be experienced in the flesh.
I found the following article via @msquinn on Twitter. It is an interesting read that shares a quick history of maps and their impact on how we live and think.
We now have the whole world in our hands, but how did we get here?
